Have you been waiting for a faster, simpler way to process the data from your NavVis M6 or NavVis VLX? We’re excited to let you know that it is here! With the Cloud Processing Add-on for NavVis IndoorViewer you can upload and process your scan data directly in your web browser.
The cloud-based workflow allows you to start, monitor, and finish processing tasks wherever and whenever you have a stable internet connection. This means you can start processing directly from the mapping site without having to wait until you are back in the office.
Cloud processing also enables faster overall processing times because datasets can be processed in parallel. The processed data is then directly available for use in NavVis IndoorViewer, enabling you to deliver your projects sooner. The easy-to-use interface allows you to simply drag and drop your data, select the processing settings, and set up a notification via email to let you and others know when the job is done.
To help you get started with the Cloud Processing Add-on for NavVis IndoorViewer, here are our top three tips.
1. Choose the processing settings while your data uploads
It can take a long time to upload gigabytes of scan data, and you might as well use that time productively! While your data uploads you can go ahead and already choose the processing settings by creating a new processing task in the Processing Tasks tab.
A processing task allows you to apply the same settings to multiple datasets, which is useful if they are all from the same site and use the same control point file. Once you have chosen your settings, the datasets will be processed in parallel as soon as they have finished uploading. This significantly speeds up the total processing time. The size of the largest dataset determines how long the processing task will take to finish.
2. Troubleshoot control points before processing starts
When you upload your control points file, the system does a comprehensive series of pre-checks to look for potential issues before processing even starts. If you see a warning, you should open the control point configuration screen where you will get all the information you need to troubleshoot and correct problems.
On the control point configuration screen, you will see a description of the problem, a list of control points, and a quality map showing the location of the control points. You can exclude problematic control points from processing and rename control points if someone made a typo.
Fixing issues with control points before processing starts saves you time and effort later down the line.
3. Start using processed data in NavVis IndoorViewer straight away
As soon as processing is complete, you can copy the data to dataset management and load it directly into your instance. If you are working on a big project with tight deadlines, this gives your team the capacity for multiple people to work in parallel. One person can map and upload data daily, processing can run overnight, and as soon as processing is complete, someone back at the office can start aligning the data and creating the site model.
To facilitate a team workflow like this you can add multiple email addresses to your processing task, and they will all be notified about its progress.
